Head Teachers Letter

Welcome to our school.

St Mary’s and St Peter’s is a Church of England Primary school which has been serving the local community of Teddington since 1832. We are uncompromising in our drive to provide high quality education in an environment where Christian values are at the heart of the school.

We work hard to ensure children achieve their very best, whatever their ability. The school was inspected by Ofsted in 2008 and graded ‘Outstanding’ in all key areas. They noted that standards and achievement were ‘Outstanding’, as was every other area of the school. Most recently we have had a Church School (Section 48) inspection, which once again described the provision as ‘Outstanding’ in all aspects, stating that ‘Christian love and values really do run through the fabric and ethos of St Marys and St Peters School like writing through a stick of rock.

Despite these glowing reports and the many other awards the school has received, such as the Artsmark Gold, the ICT mark, Fairtrade Mark etc., we are not complacent and as a school community we work hard to instil a lifelong love of learning.

In September 2012 our new and refurbished state of the art premises were opened by the Bishop of London and we are now enjoying our new wide ranging facilities and now offer full disabled access in the school. In addition to our rich and varied curriculum, we have a wide range of extra-curricular activities, with almost two thirds of the children taking part in at least one club, as well as residential field study trips in Year 4 & 6. We have good links within the local churches, our neighbours, Tearfund and other community groups, as well as encouraging the children to raise funds for various charities.

We strongly believe that if our children are to grow into the citizens of the future then they need to learn these skills from an early age. Our School Council and Pupil Advocates play a key part in the life of the school in many different ways, as does our emphasis on developing key values that will equip children for life. For us this is part of the rich and varied curriculum we offer our children.

I hope the website gives you a flavour of the school.

Kind regards
